Jazz comes to the Old Train Depot in Downtown Myrtle Beach

The ribbon was originally cut on the old train depot in Myrtle Beach SC on May 7th, 1937. It provided a much needed transportation link between the inland and the shore for carrying supplies and happy vacationers to and from the beach. Later as train travel waned the depot was sold to a construction company who for many years used the site as their home base. Upon moving shop the property owner became interested in selling and The All Aboard Committee was formed.

The All Aboard committee's responsibility was to raise funds, oversee renovations and apply to the SC Department of Archives and History for designation as a a historic place on the SC Historic Registers. The state preferred to keep the structure as close to it's original state as possible. The Committee accomplished their goals with a second ribbon cutting on May 6, 2006 exactly 67 years to the date of the original date.

Today The Train Depot is a public property to be visited or rented for receptions and events. It is a popular place for wedding rehearsals and birthday parties. There is an always much anticipated annual Jazz and Arts event in January in Myrtle Beach's Old Train Depot.

For more information about the restoration, please call 843-918-1050. To reserve the depot for your event, contact Richard Kirby at 843-918-2390.
