Sun Fun Sand Castles

Myrtle Beach is preparing for Sun Fun this year with a special event to celebrate this 55 year old festival. We are planning to win the Guinness Book of World Records award for building the biggest sand castle in the world.

Maine currently holds this distinction and we will be giving them a run for their money. How about a little competition Maine? So far we are planning a base of 60 feet wide and dumping 70 tons of sand on top to sculpt a design that is no less than 35 feet tall. This is more than five and a half feet taller than the current record.

Team Sandtastic has been contracted to build this huge sand sculpture. They create 50 to 60 sand sculptures world wide on an annual basis.

The ideas for the design of the creation will come from students kindergarten through the 12th grade. Students may submit a drawing or painting of their design ideas. The winner will receive a 500.00 cash prize. An additional 500.00 will be awarded to the winner's grade or school art class.
