Myrtle Beach Pelicans
The Pelicans,
an Atlanta Braves Carolina League Class-A team, won the leauge
championship their first two years in existence. They are looking
forward to giving fans an exciting season again this year. Locals,
as well as many seasonal visitors to Myrtle Beach, support the
Myrtle Beach Pelicans and take advantage of their home games.
A new picnic area has been added, and for those unable to attend
home games, they will be broadcast on WRNN-FM, 99.5. Ticket
prices range from $7.50 for box seats to $4.00 general admission.
Myrtle Beach Stingrays Indoor Football
The National Indoor Football League has grown and expanded
into 24 cities nationwide, and Myrtle Beach is lucky enough
to be one of those cites!
"We have found this area to be a huge base for football
fans," said April Coble, MB Stingrays VP of Business Development.
"There was a beautiful facility to play in, as well as
talks of a new arena in the future. It has a good base of locals
to draw from Georgetown to Cherry Grove and all the way to Conway
and Aynor. With the large entertainment and service industries,
people were already used to going out and having a good time.
You cannot talk about the beach without mentioning the tourist.
So with the fact that five out of our seven games fall on weekends
in May and June, we felt that we had a large market of families
to draw from as well. We are entertainment, but we are also
family fun for under $35.00, and that is for a family of 4.
Not many entertainment facilities can say that!"
The Myrtle
Beach Stingrays' Home Arena is at the Myrtle Beach Convention
Center.
Myrtle Beach Speedway
The Myrtle
Beach Speedway is a half-mile, asphalt tri-oval sanctioned
by NASCAR. Races are held every Saturday April through September.
Events include both professional and amateur racing.
