During this walk you will see oaks, wax myrtles, hollies, poplars, and magnolias, all of which have been a part of the Grand Strand since the days when the only settlers were the Waccamaw Indians. This forest is a home for many birds, reptiles and amphibians so tread softly and watch closely.
There are choices in the path you take on the Sculpture Oak Trail. Continuing straight will take you to an overlook at a pond or turn left toward the beach. The Sculptured Oak Trail is then joined by the Yaupon Trail to the right. Both trails will lead you to the beach, which is made accessible by boardwalks.
If you are feeling quite adventurous wander off the path to find birds feeding, brilliant and intricate spider webs and a harder walk.
