Myrtle Beach Pelican Baseball

The Pelicans will kick off their 6th season on April 8, 2004 with a home opener against the Wilmington Blue Rocks, Class A team for the Kansas City Royals. The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are the Class A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves and play at Coastal Federal Field on the corner of 21st Avenue and Grissom Parkway in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

In addition to baseball action, the team is offering giveaway items, entertainment and community interaction. Special guest appearances will include the Famous Chicken, Easter in Mayberry featuring Deputy Barney Fife, and appearances by several cartoon characters the kids are sure to love. An expanded fireworks display will delight all visitors after select home games.

New to the entertainment schedule this year are post-game concerts. A concert will be held on April 17th, 2004 to commemorate Coastal Federal Bank’s 50th Anniversary . “Pops In The Park”, will couple a patriotic concert by the Long Bay Symphony with the home game on July 3rd in honor of Independence Day.

Other special events included in the 2004 lineup include baseball clinics for younger children and female fans. The team will also host Kids Day at the Park, National Night Out, Locals Nights and Pennies from Heaven, a fundraiser for the DARE program. Giveaways will also include sports related items, collector’s baseballs, caps and posters.
