| Myrtle Beach, South Carolina was the No. 1 destination in online searches
by people looking for a second home, according to a February
index of visitors to a Web site for second-home buyers. EscapeHomes.com,
which issues the monthly Second Home Market Index based on consumers'
online searches, also reported that South Padre Island, TX;
Naples, FL.; Holden Beach, NC; and Ocean City, NJ, in that order,
rounded out the top five destinations.
The results of the index are based on more than 200,000 property
searches made on the EscapeHomes.com Web site in February.
Investors made up 62 percent of Myrtle
Beach home seekers; 18 percent were looking for a vacation home;
15 percent were looking for a retirement property; and 5 percent
were looking for relocation, the company said.
Phil Cox, Broker-in-Charge at Resort Vacation Services, indicates
that record sales at the Myrtle Beach Resort were generated
by a combination of investors and second home seekers. “The
beauty of a property such as this one is that you can vacation
here enjoying all the amenities of the resort and still, hopefully,
have an exceptional investment.” Condominiums at the oceanfront
Myrtle Beach Resort have experienced appreciation in the past
twelve months like no other year in its history. For sales information:
