New Orleans made it famous, and the Grand Strand will soon have one of its own. What is it?
MARDI GRAS!
Mark your calendar now for a family-rated celebration February 28 through March 2nd.
The Mardi Gras Event is a joint project between private businesses, the city of Myrtle Beach, and the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.

A parade will take place March 1 on the roads surrounding Broadway at the Beach, and the celebration will culminate at the complex's nightclub district, Celebrity Square, where a free street party and concert will be held.

Seven giant parade floats which were used at the Universal Studios Mardi Gras celebration in Orlando will be moved to Myrtle Beach on 18-wheelers.

An open-to-the-public masked ball will be held Feb. 28 at Myrtle Square Mall's food court, which will be transformed into a Mardi Gras-themed ballroom.
