Free Wireless on the South Strand

Free Wireless, used books, fresh breads and great coffee make Jacob's Java the place to spend a morning on the South Strand.

A couple of years ago we featured Jacob's Java in the first Off the Beaten Track article in this newsletter. It's still here and still a local favorite. The wireless is free and you can access the Internet at one of their computers for a small fee. It is a comfortable and relaxing place to work with sofas and giant chairs as well as the standard tables and chairs. Sometimes there are even little vases of fresh flowers.

Jacob's Java serves the best coffee break in town with great espresso, cappuccino and just plain coffee. Accompany this with assorted muffins, bagels and rolls that are fresh baked on the premises and even after the work is done and the emails are all answered, you may not want to leave.

However, if you do have to go, take a moment to have a look at their huge selection of used books. Pick up something for a couple of bucks, to enjoy on the beach or at the fishing pier. After all you’re the one who's been "working" while on vacation and you deserve it.
