In other airline news, Northwest Airlines, the world's fourth-largest air carrier, said Tuesday it will bring seasonal flights from Detroit to Myrtle Beach International Airport starting April 18. Northwest said increased capacity at its new $1.2 billion gate in Detroit has made the new route possible. The airline will have one flight daily, leaving Detroit at 10:31 a.m. and arriving in Myrtle Beach at 12:22 p.m. The return flight leaves Myrtle Beach at 2:10 p.m. and arrives in Detroit at 4:10 p.m.
This summer, 50 carousel horses will be arriving in Myrtle Beach to save the Rivoli Theater! Local artists are designing and painting the fiberglass horses which will make their first appearance at the Sun Fun Parade, May 31st. Sponsors will then display the horses until they are auctioned off in September.

The proceeds from the project will benefit the Rivoli restoration effort. The $5,000 sponsorship pays for the fiberglass models and a $1,000 stipend for the artists' supplies and labor. The goal is to renovate The Rivoli, located near the Pavilion, by adding a gallery, makeup and rehearsal rooms and a stage.
