When Ann Weiss was on a diplomatic mission in Poland she discovered
an archive of family photographs brought to a Nazis’ death
camp by victims. She dedicated her life to preserving the photos
and locating the family members of the people in them. It took
a fifteen-year struggle before she was allowed to copy the pictures.
They will be on exhibit in Myrtle Beach at the Burroughs and
Chapin Art Museum. Funding for this exhibit is provided in part
by the Jewish Community Council of the Erie.

SOS Fall Migration - September 16 - 25, 2005

Beach Sweep - September 17, 2005
Join thousands of South Carolinians, as we strive to keep our
beaches clean. Beach Sweep is an annual event, taking place
the third Saturday of every September. The SC Sea Grant Consortium
and the SC Department of Natural Resources organize this effort
bringing together people, to clear beaches, rivers, lakes and
marshes of debris. When the sweep is finished the debris data
is tallied so that we can stop pollution before it starts.

Atalaya Arts and Crafts Festival - September 23-25, 2005
Atalaya Castle, fills its concrete halls once again for what
is known as one of the top 50 art shows in the country. Originally
the summer home for the prestigious Huntington family (the artists
responsible for many of the works you see at Brookgreen Gardens),
the home and grounds are now part of the South Carolina State
Parks system. Judges select from over a hundred submissions
to find the top artisans in the country to participate.
