Since then he has opened two restaurants with a friend, Cagney's Old Place and the Flamingo Grill. Cagney's is decorated in an eclectic old time motif with antiques and leftovers bought at auctions and found among the rubbish at construction sites. The Flamingo Grill has a modern art deco decor. Both restaurants feature some of the best prime rib and lobster to be found on the Grand Strand.

Dino Thompson is also a local author. His book, Greek Boy, Growing Up Southern, A Myrtle Beach Memoir, is a spellbinding story of what it was like to grow up in Myrtle Beach. This book will take you back to the Myrtle Beach of the past while the Grand Strand continues to always grow and change just like it always has.
