Seventy-six million strong, Baby Boomers represent the largest single sustained growth of the population in the history of the United States. Many already own condos or second homes in the Myrtle Beach area. Others eye the area as one of the best locations for retirement. Tom Maeser, president of a local real estate school states, Its a healthy market for sellers right now, a little tougher for buyers as sales surpass the number of listings. Maeser continues, Although sellers will not find buyers if they inflate prices suddenly, some folks who looked at a property last year have taken a look again this year only to find, in some cases, price increases up to $20,000. Phil Cox, Broker-in-Charge of Resort Vacation Services at the Myrtle Beach Resort, echoes Maesers observations. Our staff is working harder to find listings than they are to sell condos. There is a waiting list for those that have good ocean views. Because the mortgage interest rates are still favorable, its still a good time to buy.
