Can-Am Days Festival - March 13-21

The Canadian-American Days Festival® has been named one of the Southeast Tourism Society's Top 20 Events for the month of March, 2004.

This year marks the 43rd annual Canadian-American Festival, sponsored by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce which serves Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, Little River, Atlantic Beach, Garden City Beach, Loris, Conway, Aynor, Murrells Inlet, Litchfield Beach, and Pawleys Island.

The nine-day Canadian-American Days Festival will include the Can-Am Little Olympics, South Strand Wildlife and History Day, a youth soccer tournament, the National Shag Dance Championship, a big band dance, and the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Receptions for Canadian and American visitors are planned at three Grand Strand locations.

Highlights of the festival include the Little Olympics, International Kitefest, senior softball tournament, concerts, riverboat tours, South Strand Wildlife and History Day, and the St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival in North Myrtle Beach.

The National Shag Dance Championship, always a favorite with locals and visitors alike, will feature junior, novice, and professional dancers stepping to the beat of South Carolina's state dance, The Shag.

Historical tours of Brookgreen Gardens, the Atalaya Castle, and neighboring antebellum plantations will provide visitors with a real flavor of The South.
