AMENITIES = FUN!

When Hoagy Carmichael penned the lyrics…”Up a lazy river by the old mill stream”…did he foresee the day when thousands of Myrtle Beach tourists would be riding down one at their favorite hotel, resort, or water park?

While visitors to Myrtle Beach all seem to agree that the miles of beautiful beaches and gentle rolling surf are still the biggest draw…many are looking for more! Early on, the beachfront properties added swimming pools to their property as an added feature. Soon they became covered for year round use. Next came whirlpools (hot tubs if you prefer) and now the Lazy River is taking center stage.

Phil Cox, whose company rents vacation condos at The Myrtle Beach Resort, comments, “our visitors are looking for a great deal more than a beach, an ocean and a place to sleep. That’s why this Resort is spending upwards of a half million dollars to add a 300 foot lazy river complex that will include baby pools, whirlpools and plunge pools to compliment a host of amenities already available. Cox continues, “ you may be able to rent a room or condo for a few dollars less without all these features, but then you’ll find yourself spending extra dollars at the off site water parks.”

(Editors note) The Myrtle Beach Resort already has five outdoor pools, two indoor pools, six lighted tennis courts, whirlpools, saunas, steam rooms, and exercise facilities available to their guests without charge.
