Myrtle Beach
Airport Keeps Growing
The
area's 10th air carrier will enter the Myrtle Beach market this
month with the arrival of the first flight of Pan Am Airlines. Representatives
of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday, the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce
and others will be on hand to celebrate the inaugural flight, which
is flying from Manchester, N.H. It is scheduled to land about 10
a.m. October 9, at Myrtle Beach International Airport.
Myrtle Beach, which has recently developed plans to relocate and
enlarge their existing air terminal, is currently served by the
following airlines: Spirit, Hooters Air, U.S.Air, Delta, Continental,
Midway, ASA Airlines, ComAir, and Northwest.
The new terminal will be located on the western side of the airfield
at Myrtle Beach International. This decision was made after considering
a plan to relocate the airport several miles from the beach. The
announcement was well received by the hotels and resorts on the
southern end of Myrtle Beach. Management at The
Myrtle Beach Resort was especially pleased since this is one
the closest ocean front resorts to the airport.
