| After
years of planning Myrtle Beach is finally going to get a brand
new terminal building at the existing airport. The terminal
complex will incorporate state-of-the-art equipment and building
technology to ensure safety, security, and operational viability
while maintaining the potential for generating a significant
level of revenue. The two-level building upper-level will be
utilized for departing passengers and the lower-level for those
arriving and will provide for the comfortable and expeditious
movement of both domestic and international passengers and other
users of the facility within a safe and secure environment.
The number of passengers passing through Myrtle Beach International
Airport increases annually. Through December 2004, MYR accommodated
almost 1.5 million travelers. The number of non-stop flights
to major cities continues to grow and currently includes Atlanta,
Chicago, New York City, Boston, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Cincinnati,
Newark, Baltimore, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Minneapolis,
Atlantic City, Washington, DC, Charlotte, and Nassau in the
Bahamas.
