10 Free Family Activities

1. Myrtle Beach hosts numerous festivals every year. We are home to not only the well known Sun Fun Festival and Art in the Park, but smaller local festivals as well. For ideas on which festivals your family will enjoy the most, check our events calendar.

2. Broadway at the Beach offers many free family activities. One favorite is the Miss Broadway water taxi ride from one end of Lake Broadway to the other. While you are there feed the fish and ducks and enjoy the large play area. See sights from the new Pavilion Nostalgia Park and end the evening with a free fireworks display (every night).

3. KidsArt at the Museum - Every Second and Fourth Saturday, children can explore their creativity at the Burroughs and Chapin Art Museum. There is a $5 fee to cover the cost of materials.

4. Chapin Memorial Library hosts a Story Time for Children based on their age. These stories feature songs, finger plays, flannel boards and crafts.

5. Huntington Beach State Park is home to Atalaya Castle. Wander through the corridors of the old Spanish Mediterranean style castle and feel the peace of its courtyards.

6. Myrtle Beach State Park has a wonderful Nature Center for children with classes that teach children about everything from sharks to alligators.

7. Capt'n Bennett’s Calabash Seafood has a buffet that offers a huge variety of seafood as well as beef and poultry. Kids under age 5 eat free.

8. When you make reservations for your Myrtle Beach lodging, be sure to check what amenities the property provides free access to for their guests. Most family accommodations now have lazy rivers, water parks and playgrounds.

9. Call Myrtle Beach National at 1-800-882-3420 and find out about how "Kids Play Free" everyday on the 9 "Prime Time Signature Courses" when accompanied by a paid adult on a one on one basis. Kids are Free in the afternoons Monday - Thursday and all day Friday - Sunday.

10. And of course the greatest Free Family Activity on The Grand Strand is The Beach. So come on down and bring your sand buckets, boogie boards, frisbees and kites.
